La Roche-Posay Effaclar BB Blur Review

Escentual, the online luxury beauty store, recently got in touch with me and asked if I would like to try the latest invention from La Roche-Posay; the Effaclar BB Blur*. I jumped at the chance. La Roche-Posay has become one of my favourite skincare brands and the unique 2 in 1 product sounds like a dream match for my skin and specific needs. Having never tried any makeup from the brand, I couldn’t wait for it to arrive.

Exclusive to Escentual, the La Roche-Posay Effaclar BB Blur is the range’s first ever beauty balm. The lightweight product is meant to be suitable for use alone as cover-up or as a primer and is targeted at those who suffer from problematic skin and unwanted shine throughout the day. The priming aspect of the product should blur, soften and smooth the texture of skin whilst the BB pigments aim to conceal blemishes, even skintone and balance redness in the face, achieving a beautified but natural look. The mix of a primer and bb cream sounds perfect, doesn’t it? Read my thoughts on the product below.

After only 5 days of use, I can honestly say that La Roche-Posay’s Effaclar BB Blur has become my favourite base makeup to wear. A slight wash of colour is all you usually get with BB creams, but with just a tiny amount of this mousse formula, much fuller coverage can be achieved whilst still looking natural. It never looks at all cakey, even when layered. I’ve always been a little wary of mousse formulas, the few I’ve brought in the past haven’t been the best and are often very difficult to blend leaving you with visible foundation lines. This formula is so soft, smooth and unlike any other mousse product I’ve tried. It’s super easy to blend, which was very unexpected and it seems to melt into a cream product when applied to the skin. The swatch above makes the product seem quite thick, which isn’t the case at all. It’s extremely light-weight, I think it will be a perfect product for summer. It gives you foundation-like coverage whilst being very light on the skin, two things that are very difficult to find in a BB product. When applied it immediately mattifies the skin, and keeps it looking shine-free for the whole day. It really does provide a smoother texture to the skin and blurs the look of any visible pores, creating a flawless complexion. The product comes in two shades, the shade I have is Fair/Light. Both of the shades adapt to your own colouring, providing you with the perfect match. I really love this 2 in 1 product and urge you to try it.

The product launches at Escentual on January 1st 2016. You can currently pre-order the Effaclar BB Blur from Escentual at only £11.00, saving a 1/3 (normally £16.50). Will you be purchasing BB Blur in the new year? Please leave comments below.

A Christmas Wishlist – What I Would Like To Receive This Year

Xmas List 2015

After creating a couple of gift guides on my blog, I’ve started wondering about what I really want for Christmas. I usually receive a mix of makeup, jewellery and clothing, but there are some other bits I’d like to be gifted this year. A lot of gifts I’ve included are probably things that many wouldn’t think to buy me, hence why I’ve decided to create this list. If you don’t know what you want for Xmas, hopefully you’ll get some ideas on what to add to your ever-growing list. Which is coincidently exactly what I’ve been doing when reading these posts!

I recently discovered Olivia Burton watches and have absolutely fallen in love with the brand and every single one of their designs. They are such pretty watches. This one is definitely my favourite at the moment. I currently have a weakness for everything rose gold, so the detailing is perfect for me. The black and pink floral print is also just so gorgeous and complements the rose gold beautifully. Another rose golden item on my Christmas list is the Zoeva brush set. I still haven’t managed to get my hands on these, so I would absolutely love to find these under the tree on Christmas day. You may think the H&M glass box is a bit of a strange present to put on a wishlist, but I thought it would be great for storing and displaying all of my lipsticks. I definitely need a lot more makeup storage and a couple of these would make it easier for me to find which shades I want to wear. See below for links to all products featured.
