Brand Focus: AngelEye

AngelEye

Discovering new, distinctive and quirky, fashion brands is something that I love to do. London fashion is the most diverse and unique in the world, and designers consistently come up with fresh ideas and produce collections that I covet and desire on a daily basis. I recently came across the lovely, vintage-inspired brand, AngelEye. I love the way the team behind AngelEye takes inspiration from the bustling city of London to design the clothes and creates pieces for the elegant and confident British woman. Today I’ll be sharing some of the brand’s unique SS16 pieces and talking about AngelEye’s philosophy with you.

Angel Xue, creative director of the brand, started up her business in the year of 2006. She began her journey with a small store, called Dolly (the brand was recently renamed AngelEye – which originated from Angel’s impeccable eye for fashion), which was situated in the heart of Camden. Angel worked so hard to make her brand a success. She would design the clothes, hand-paint the prints, deliver the garments, and sell the pieces all by herself. This hard work and determination to make it in the fashion world paid off. By 2009 she had over 200 independent boutiques worldwide, selling and wanting to stock her clothing. What started out as a small store in Camden, turned into a global fashion brand. With a creative new collection and a passionate and driven team behind her, she is now set to come back into the UK fashion market with a bang.

AngelEye was created by Angel as a way of communicating her views of London through fashion. Taking inspiration from “the cool, urbanite style of Portobello in Notting Hill, true vintage from Spitalfields in the East and the rock and roll flavour from Camden Market”, she designs truly original pieces that have an edgy chic aspect with the pretty, angelic and feminine characteristics of the brand’s DNA. Have you ever felt like you had to wear something because it was a trend? AngelEye rejects this idea, and believes that you shouldn’t feel obliged to wear clothes that everyone else is wearing, but wear pieces that suit you and make you feel comfortable and confident. The clothing AngelEye produces will empower the wearer and make her feel incredible. The brand aim to create unique pieces that can’t be found elsewhere: I think that they’ve definitely captured that feeling with the SS16 collection.

The Summer 2016 collection for AngelEye is based upon the French heritage of the Huguenot weavers in Spitalfields and Brick Lane’s infamous vintage shops. The combination of this and AngelEye’s rich heritage and signature English rose look produces something so unique and gives a modern energy and youthful elegance to this historic event. The floral prints, pastel colours and vintage lace fusion shows just how creative the designers are and how the team can marry such distinctive and individual concepts. The collection has a lot of delicate and pretty characteristics, but every single piece has a significant amount of London edginess added to it to give a more urban, street feel. All of the pieces could easily be integrated into my wardrobe, and probably into yours to.

Although I love so many of the cutesy, adorable pieces, my favourite is a gorgeous pair of red graphic-printed trousers. Worn with strappy heels and a cropped white cami, they will look amazing in the Summer. I can see most of the pieces being worn to a garden party or a summer wedding. They definitely give off that kind of vibe. Another perfect piece for Summer is their cropped crochet top. How sweet would it look paired with some ripped denim shorts or boyfriend jeans for a casual look this Spring. You could even pair it with a bikini or wear it as a beach cover-up, although you may end up with some funky looking tan lines. It’s very versatile, along with many of the other pieces. The brands SS16 collection also offers pleated and printed dresses, long-line chiffon shirts with lace panels, ruched, tired dresses, fitted tailored shorts, sparkly skirts and work wear blazers and jackets. AngelEye’s signature fit and flare shaped clothing means that there is something for everyone, and you don’t have to be a model to look good in the clothing. It doesn’t matter what shape you are, you are sure to find a perfect piece in this collection for your body type. All AngelEye girls will look so individual and fresh next season wearing these one-of-a-kind pieces.
