Balmain Collaboration With H&M Confirmed

On Sunday night at the Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas, designer for Balmain, Oliver Rousteing, announced that he would be designing a collection for the high-street retailer, H&M. On the red carpet with models and friends, Jourdan Dunn and Kendall Jenner (two of Balmain’s famous fans), who were both wearing the first pieces designed for the collection, Rousteing said about the collaboration…

“I want to talk to my generation: this is my main aim as a designer. H&M allows me the unique possibility of bringing everyone into the world of Balmain, getting a piece of the dream and creating a global #HMBALMAINATION: A movement of togetherness, fulled on a hashtag. The collaboration felt extremely natural to me: H&M is a brand that everybody connects to. It calls for unity, and I am all for it.”

– Oliver Rousteing (Head Designer at Balmain)

Balmain’s collections are unique and opulent with a touch of edgy street-style, and focused on craftsmanship. Expect to see a lot of embellished and textured, couture like pieces for the collaboration. After seeing that gorgeous pearl and velvet jacket Kendall was wearing at the awards, I can’t wait to see the rest of the collection and will definitely be heading to H&M in the Autumn for the release.

Teaming up with H&M sees the designer join some of the biggest names in the fashion industry, including Karl Lagerfeld, Alexander Wang, Donatella Versace and Stella McCartney.

The collection will be available worldwide and online from the 5 November, which will feature clothing and accessories designed for both men and women. What do you think about H&M’s latest designer collaboration? Which collaboration has been your favourite so far? Please leave comments below.
